The Pondicherry Municipality proposed to organize a One-Hour Mass Awareness-cum-Cleanliness Activity under the theme “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” on 01.10.2026 (Thursday) from 07:30 a.m. onwards at Pondy Marina, Vambakeerapalayam, Puducherry. The initiative was organized with the objective of creating awareness among the public about the importance of cleanliness, environmental protection, proper waste disposal, and maintaining clean and healthy public spaces.

The programme was proposed to be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. As part of this important civic initiative, Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Engineering and Technology (SVCET), Ariyur, Puducherry, participated through its NSS Programme Officer and NSS volunteers. The NSS volunteers actively joined the mass cleanliness and awareness activities at Pondy Marina and extended their support to the municipal authorities in maintaining the cleanliness of the surroundings.

The participation of SVCET NSS volunteers helped to promote the values of social responsibility, community service, environmental consciousness, and cleanliness among the students. The activity also provided an opportunity for the volunteers to understand their role in contributing to a clean and sustainable society. The programme emphasized that collective participation and responsible civic behaviour can bring about positive changes in the community.
