Evidence-Based Assessment and Management of Lymphedema
On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day 2026, Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Physiotherapy organized a specialized hands-on workshop titled "Evidence-Based Assessment and Management of Lymphedema" on September 10, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilakku, setting a solemn tone for the academic event. Prof. Dr. Jeyanthi S., Principal of Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Physiotherapy, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the crucial role of evidence-informed rehabilitative care in modern clinical practice. Following this, Dr. Rajakumar (PT) introduced the esteemed resource persons for the session: Dr. E. Jayadharshini (PT), MPT (Community, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care) and Dr. Renuka Sundar (PT), MPT (Community, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care), CERTIFIED LYMPHEDEMA THERAPIST from Meenakshi College of Physiotherapy, Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER), Chennai.
Throughout the interactive workshop, the resource persons provided comprehensive insights into the pathophysiology of lymphedema, modern diagnostic assessment tools, and current evidence-based management approaches. Designed as an intensive practical training session, the workshop enabled 60 participating physiotherapy students to acquire hands-on experience in clinical evaluation and therapeutic techniques.
The entire program was successfully organized under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Jeyanthi S., Principal, and coordinated by Dr. Pavithra S. (PT), Assistant Professor and Organizing Secretary. The smooth execution of the event was further supported by the tireless efforts of the faculty members and dedicated student volunteers.
