Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Puducherry, proudly participates in the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA), a nationwide initiative by the Government of India to provide free and quality antenatal care to pregnant women.

 About PMSMA

Launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the PMSMA ensures comprehensive antenatal care for women in their second and third trimesters. The program focuses on reducing maternal and infant mortality by offering regular checkups, early detection of pregnancy complications, and timely medical intervention.

 Key Features at Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College:

 Free Antenatal Checkups: Available on the 9th of every month, providing physical exams, ultrasound scans, and essential lab tests like blood work for anemia, infections, and gestational diabetes.

Focus on High-Risk Pregnancies: Early identification and management of high-risk pregnancies to prevent complications.

Counseling and Health Education: Information on nutrition, iron and folic acid supplementation, and warning signs of complications.

Multi-Disciplinary Care: Collaboration across departments, including Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and Internal Medicine, to ensure holistic care.

Government Collaboration: Working closely with local health authorities to extend the program’s benefits to all eligible women.

Promotion of institutional deliveries for safer childbirth experiences.
