International Womens Day 2021 - Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Engineering and Technology, Puducherry
Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Engineering and Technology , Puducherry is celebrating International Womens Day every year for the benefits of Women Engineering students on the topic of impacts on Violence against women, Gender equality, Reproductive Rights , Education Skills and Work.
The International Women’s Day was celebrated with Power & Positivity in Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Engineering & Technology, Ariyur, Puducherry. The occasion started with Women’s Self defense Program. The Program commenced with Thamizh Thai Vazhthu. Guest of Honour, Mr. Jairaj, Technical Director, Pondicherry Judo Association along with his team demonstrated about Judo and also taught simple yet effective techniques of Self defense to the girl students and lady faculty members. Moreover, he gave wide coverage of Employment information through sports quota.
Following that, many events like Quiz competition, Debate, Rangoli, Mehandi and Painting were conducted for girl students. Many Students eagerly participated in the competitions. After the completion of competitions, Women’s Day Program was conducted in the Virchow Hall, SVGI. Dr. K.B. Jayarraman, Dean, SVCET welcomed the gathering and felicitated the program. Guest of Honour of the Program, Mrs. Bhuvaneswari, HR and Admin, The Aurobindo Society, Puducherry commenced her speech with the poem of “The great poet, Bharathiyar” and motivated the students with powerful stories and inspired the students with her speech. And also ameliorated the students about the present scenario about Placements and encouraged the students.
Shri. B. Ramachandiran, Chairman, SVGI; Dr. B. Vidhya, COO, SVGI; Dr. S. Pradeep Devaneyan, Principal, SVCET and Head of the Departments wished the students and faculty members. In the Program, many cultural events were organized for the students were the whole program moved around the theme of “Women Empowerement”. Finally, the certificates were distributed to the winners and participants. The event was enthusiastically organized by Mr. V. Karthikeyan, AP/Mechanical Department, NSS Officer and his team.
This day brought many things for Women a cause for celebration, a reason to pause and reevaluate a remembrance, an inspiration and time to honour, loved and admired.
