NSS Special Camp – Day 1 Report
The first day of the NSS Special Camp commenced on 24.03.2026 (Tuesday) with great enthusiasm. The programme began with the inauguration ceremony, marking the official start of the camp.
In the forenoon session, NSS volunteers actively participated in temple and school cleaning, promoting the importance of cleanliness and community service.
During the afternoon session, an awareness programme on water pollution and its impact on public health was conducted. The session was handled by Dr. Thirivikrman, Associate Professor, who explained the causes, effects, and preventive measures related to water pollution. The session created awareness among the volunteers and local community.
NSS Special Camp – Day 2 Report
Date: 25.03.2026 (Wednesday)
Venue: Manakuppam
The second day of the NSS Special Camp began with an informative forenoon session on “Awareness on Drug Abuse Prevention”, conducted for NSS volunteers and the local community. The session highlighted the harmful effects of drug addiction, preventive measures, and the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. Participants actively engaged and clarified their doubts.
In the afternoon session, Mrs. Chithra Jayarajan, District Trainer from a Rural Association (NGO), conducted a session on Natural Soap Making. She demonstrated the preparation process using eco-friendly ingredients and explained its benefits for health and the environment. Volunteers actively participated in the hands-on activity, gaining practical knowledge and skills.
Day 3 Report – 26.03.2026 (Thursday)
On the third day of the NSS Special Camp, two important activities focusing on health and environmental awareness were successfully conducted at Manakuppam.
In the forenoon session, a Dental Health Camp was organized in collaboration with Sri Venkateshwaraa Dental College. The camp aimed to promote oral hygiene and provide free dental check-ups to the local community. The medical team offered guidance on proper dental care, identified common oral health issues, and created awareness about preventive measures. The camp witnessed good participation from the villagers.
In the afternoon session, an Awareness Rally on Single-Use Plastics was conducted. NSS volunteers actively participated by rallying through the village, spreading awareness about the harmful effects of plastic usage. Through slogans and placards, they encouraged the public to adopt eco-friendly alternatives and reduce plastic consumption.
Day 4 Report – NSS Special Camp (27.03.2026)
On the fourth day of the NSS Special Camp, various informative sessions were conducted for the benefit of the participants and the local community.
In the forenoon session, Mrs. Sathy Kannan, a Heartfulness Trainer and HR Deputy General Manager at Larsen & Toubro Limited, delivered a session on Basic Meditation and Yogasanas for Good Health. The session emphasized the importance of mental well-being, stress management, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular practice.
In the afternoon session, Mr. R. Thangamani conducted an awareness program on Organic Farming, including topics such as seed saving, organic techniques, and rooftop gardening. The session encouraged sustainable agricultural practices among the villagers.
NSS Special Camp 2025–2026 – Day 5 Report
On 28.03.2026 (Saturday), the fifth day of the NSS Special Camp was successfully conducted at Manakuppam village. The day’s activities focused on Disaster Management Training, organized in collaboration with Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Puducherry.
The program was conducted in both forenoon and afternoon sessions, where trained resource persons provided practical knowledge on handling emergency situations such as natural disasters, rescue operations, and first aid measures. NSS volunteers actively participated in the sessions and gained valuable insights into disaster preparedness, safety techniques, and community response strategies.
The training enhanced the volunteers’ confidence and ability to respond effectively during emergencies, thereby contributing to community safety and awareness
Day 6 Report – NSS Special Camp (29.03.2026, Sunday)
On the sixth day of the NSS Special Camp, the forenoon session focused on Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Management and Heat Stroke Management. The session was effectively handled by Dr. Manimozhi S, Food Medicine Officer (NSG), along with officials from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services, Puducherry. Dr. Manimozhi clearly explained the causes, symptoms, and preventive measures of major non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart-related issues. She also emphasized the importance of a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and early health check-ups. Her session on heat stroke management was very practical, guiding the villagers on hydration, avoiding peak heat exposure, and first-aid measures during emergencies. The session was highly interactive and beneficial to the public.
In the afternoon, a tree plantation drive was carried out by NSS volunteers in the village. The activity aimed to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living. Volunteers planted saplings in selected areas and educated the local community about the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance, improving air quality, and reducing the effects of climate change. Proper care methods, such as regular watering and protection of saplings, were also explained to ensure their growth. The initiative encouraged villagers to take responsibility for nurturing the plants and contributing to a greener environment.
NSS Special Camp – Day 7 Report
The final day of the NSS Special Camp was held on 30.03.2026 (Monday). The day began with an informative forenoon session on “Oyster and Milky Mushroom Cultivation Techniques.” The session was conducted by Dr. D. Bommy, Programme Assistant, Home Science, RKVK, Kurumbapet. She provided valuable insights into cultivation methods, benefits, and self-employment opportunities, which were highly beneficial to the participants and villagers.
In the afternoon session, the camp concluded with a valedictory function. The programme was graced by Dr. Sathish Kumar, State NSS Officer, and Dr. Saravanan, Programme Coordinator (College) as chief guests. Dr. S. Pradeep Devaneyan, Principal, and Dr. K. B. Jayarraman, Vice Principal, also presided over the function. They appreciated the efforts and active participation of the NSS volunteers throughout the camp.
