INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY – 22 MAY 2026

On the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity, Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Engineering and Technology organized a Tree Plantation Programme on 22 May 2026 to promote environmental awareness and biodiversity conservation among students and staff members. The programme was conducted with great enthusiasm and active participation from NSS volunteers, faculty members, and students.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. D. Satishkumar, State NSS Officer, who highlighted the importance of protecting biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance through environmental conservation activities. The programme was also attended by the Principal, Dr. S. Pradeep Devaneyan, and the Vice Principal, Dr. K. Jayarraman, who motivated students to actively participate in creating a greener and healthier environment.

During the programme, 25 various types of tree saplings were planted across the campus premises by NSS volunteers, faculty members, and coordinators as a symbol of environmental commitment and sustainable development. Around 50 NSS volunteers actively participated in the plantation activity, contributing enthusiastically towards creating a green and eco-friendly campus environment. The plantation activity aimed to create awareness about the importance of trees in conserving biodiversity and protecting the environment.

Mr. L. Selvakumar, NSS Programme Officer, and Mrs. Lalitha, NSS Coordinator/MBA, coordinated the programme successfully along with all department NSS coordinators, who actively participated and supported the smooth conduct of the event.

The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation and a strong message on environmental protection and biodiversity conservation. The event reflected the institution’s commitment towards social responsibility and creating environmental awareness among the younger generation.
