Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Puducherry, hosted a CME (Continuing Medical Education) on "Yoga & Women’s Health" on 19th July 2024, in observance of International Yoga Day. The event, organized by the Departments of Physiology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Medical Education Unit (MEU), aimed to highlight the significant role of yoga in enhancing women's health, focusing on both physiological and mental well-being.

The event commenced at 9:30 AM with a formal inauguration ceremony in Hippocrate’s Hall, College Block. The event brought together eminent speakers to present valuable insights into the impact of yoga on women’s health, drawing a crowd of medical professionals, students, and yoga enthusiasts alike.

Key Speakers & Sessions
1. Dr. Paapa Dasari, MD, DGO, PDCR, FRM, FICOG, Dean Research & PG Academics, and Professor of OBG, SVMCH&RC, Puducherry, was the principal speaker of the day. Her session titled “Yoga & Women’s Health” focused on how regular yoga practice benefits various aspects of women’s physical, emotional, and reproductive health.
  
2. Dr. A K Jayamala, MD (Physiology), Professor of Physiology at SVMCH&RC, led the session on “Physiological Aspects of Yoga,” discussing how yoga positively influences the body’s physiological functions, improving overall health and well-being.

3. Dr. Meena, MD, Assistant Professor of Physiology at SVMCH&RC, delivered a session on “Physiological Aspects of Pranayama,” where she explored the scientific effects of pranayama (breathing exercises) on the body’s vital systems and its potential in managing stress and enhancing mental clarity.

The event concluded with a lively discussion and valediction, where participants interacted with the speakers and shared their perspectives on yoga’s role in health care. The Patrons and Co-Patrons of the event, including Shri. B. Ramachandran (Chairman, SVD), Mr. A.R. Rajiv Krishna (Managing Director, SVD), Dr. B. Vidhya (COO, SVG), and other dignitaries, expressed their appreciation for the informative sessions and reiterated the importance of such educational events in promoting holistic healthcare practices.
