 INNOVATION PROGRAM

On 5th February 2026, as part of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) activities, a Special Lecture on “Innovation Awareness for Physiotherapy Professionals” was organized by Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Physiotherapy (SVCOPT). The session was delivered by Dr. A. Kirthiga (PT), Assistant Professor, who shared valuable insights on the importance of Innovation within the Physiotherapy Profession. The program commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. J. Philomina (PT) Assistant Professor of SVCOPT.

During her lecture, Dr. A. Kirthiga (PT) elaborated on the need for Innovation in Physiotherapy, emphasizing how creative problem-solving and technological advancements can improve patient care, Rehabilitation outcomes, and clinical efficiency. She also discussed the Innovation process, guiding participants through the stages from identifying clinical problems to developing practical solutions and validating innovative ideas. The session further covered the significance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in protecting innovative concepts and ensuring ethical use of inventions. Additionally, she explained the role of faculty members and the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) in fostering an innovative culture among students and professionals by encouraging research, collaboration, and entrepreneurial thinking.

The event witnessed active participation from Clinical tutors, Faculties, Second-year postgraduate students, and Physiotherapy Interns, who engaged enthusiastically in the interactive discussions and gained practical awareness about integrating innovation into clinical and academic practice.The lecture created a platform for participants to understand how innovation can transform physiotherapy services and contribute to professional growth.

At the end of the session, Dr. S. Jeyanthi, Principal of SVCOPT, presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. A. Kirthiga (PT) in recognition of her valuable contribution and informative presentation.

The program concluded successfully with positive feedback from participants, who expressed that the session enhanced their awareness and motivation toward innovative practices in Physiotherapy. The lecture reinforced the institution’s commitment to nurturing creativity, research orientation, and professional development among faculty and students through continuous innovation-focused initiatives.
