SV-COGS” (SRI VENKATESHWARAA – COMPREHENSIVE ORTHOGNATHIC SURGICAL TRAINING) - Sri Venkateshwaraa Dental College

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery in association with AOMSI-TN & PY Chapter organized a two day workshop on orthognathic surgery entitled “SV-COGS” (SRI VENKATESHWARAA – COMPREHENSIVE ORTHOGNATHIC SURGICAL TRAINING)  conducted on 16^th & 17^th, December 2022 at SRI VENKATESWARAA DENTAL College, Ariyur, Puducherry. Students and Delegates from around 25 colleges all over India attended this workshop. The chief guest for the programme was Prof Dr. K Rajasigamani, Dean, GDC, Cuddalore. The program started with welcome note given by Dr.V.Yuvaraj, HOD, Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, SVDC. The dignitaries present on the dais were Dr. P. Subramanian, President, AOMSI-TN & PY, Dr. K.  Arunkumar, Secretary AOMSI-TN & PY. The occasion was graced by our honorable Principal Dr. S. Senthilnathan & Chief Operating Officer Dr. B. Vidhya.   Eminent speakers from Chennai & Cuddalore were invited & gave lectures about various aspects of orthognathic surgery. The post lunch session covered demonstration of Orthognathic surgical procedures on skull models along with Face bow transfer, Bite registration, Mock surgery & Fabrication of surgical splints for the postgraduates and delegates. E-poster presentation done by both undergraduate and post graduate on the topic ‘Orthognathic Surgery’ and the winners were awarded with certificates and prizes. On the Second day Live Surgical Demonstrations was done on three patients. Surgeries like BSSO and Lefort I was demonstrated. The Surgeries and demonstrations were planned and executed by course co-ordinators Dr.Balaguhan and Dr.Thangavelu.  Maxillofacial surgeons and Orthodontists witnessed the live surgeries being performed by the surgeons and discussions regarding the same were moderated by Dr. P. Subramanian and Dr. A. Thangavelu. The event ended with “vote of Thanks” being delivered by Dr. Yuvaraj.
