SVCOPT Organizes Special Inductory Programme on Mindfulness and Well-Being to Mark World Meditation Day
In commemoration of the United Nations–declared World Meditation Day, Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Physiotherapy (SVCOPT) successfully organized a “Special Inductory Programme on Mindfulness and Well-Being” on 15th December at Mary McMillan Hall.
The programme began with a warm inaugural address by the Principal, Prof. Dr. Jeyanthi, who highlighted the importance of mindfulness in nurturing mental resilience and holistic well-being among students. This was followed by the felicitation of Mr. Venkatraman, former Advisory Head, who graciously presided over the event as the Chief Guest. The occasion also honoured Mrs. Thailnayagi, Senior Faculty, Heart of Living Foundation, and Mrs. Anitha, Volunteer, Heart of Living Foundation, Puducherry, in recognition of their valuable contributions to mindfulness and well-being initiatives.
The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness about mindfulness practices and to promote mental well-being among students. An enlightening expert session was conducted by Mrs. Thailnayagi, who shared valuable insights into the role of meditation in stress management, improving concentration, and maintaining emotional balance. The session included practical mindfulness exercises, enabling participants to experience meditation techniques firsthand. The interactive approach helped students appreciate the relevance of mindfulness in both their academic pursuits and personal lives.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Feedback received from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the session as calming, refreshing, and rejuvenating.
The event was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Malarvizhi M,PT Senior Assistant Professor, and concluded on a meaningful note, leaving the participants with a deeper understanding and appreciation of mindfulness as an essential component of overall well-being. make news heading for this content
