Empowerment Through Equality Building Confident Women for a Stronger Tomorrow on 24 September 2026

REPORT ON “EMPOWERMENT THROUGH EQUALITY”

The Women’s Empowerment Cell and NSS of Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Engineering & Technology (SVCET), Ariyur, Puducherry, in association with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, organized a workshop on “Empowerment Through Equality – Building Confident Women for a Stronger Tomorrow” on 24 September 2026 (Thursday) at the CSE Seminar Hall from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students about the importance of gender equality, women’s rights, constitutional values, and social responsibility. The session also aimed to encourage students to understand the challenges faced by women in society and to promote a culture of equality, dignity, mutual respect, and equal opportunities.

Mrs. Yuvayazhini, B.Sc., B.Ed. (Mathematics), M.A. (Sociology), was the Resource Person for the programme. She delivered an informative and engaging session on various aspects of women’s empowerment and equality. She particularly highlighted the social evil of dowry, its impact on individuals and families, and the importance of creating awareness to eliminate such practices. She also discussed the significance of gender equality and women’s rights in ensuring a fair and inclusive society.

The resource person explained the relevance of constitutional values and emphasized that equality, dignity, freedom, and justice are important principles that should be respected by every individual. The students were encouraged to develop confidence, respect one another, raise awareness about social issues, and actively contribute towards creating a safe and equitable environment.

The programme was coordinated by Mrs. V. Anbukarasi, AP/Civil; Dr. K. Andal, ASP/CSE; Ms. S. Pavithra, AP/AIDS; Mr. L. Selvakumar, NSS PO  and Ms. V. Sivasankari, AP/CSE. The session provided students with valuable insights into the importance of equality and empowerment and encouraged them to become responsible citizens who uphold constitutional and social values.
