Research & Development Cell and Dept. of BME of Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Engineering & Technology, Puducherry organized Scientific Social Responsibility programme on 3rd February 2025

Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Engineering & Technology envisions imparting technical knowledge along with social responsibility of environmental considerations. With the direction of management of SVGI, Research & Development Cell and Dept. of BME organized Scientific Social Responsibility programme on 3rd February 2025 under the Student Chapter of Bio Medical Engineering Society of India. The resource person, Dr.Subhankar Chatterjee, Associate Professor, Department of Ecology and Environmental Science, Pondicherry University, Puducherry gave deep insights on "Bioremediation Strategy to Mitigate Plastic Pollution", as a part of his DST-SERB project

"Biological Removal of Plastics and Microplastic Component Polyethylene with a Special Focus on Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)". Three scholars of him gave a demonstration of bioremediation procedure for the mitigation of Microplastics. Principal Dr. S. Pradeep Devaneyan, Vice Principal Dr.K.B.Jayarraman, Dean-Academics Dr.N.Balaji, Dean-IQAC Dr.V.Nagaraj and Head of all the Departments graced the event. The faculty members and 90 students of the Dept. of BME were benefitted by attending an eye-opening session on Microplastics. Dr. G. Amuthavalli, Professor and Head-Research & Development, Mr.S.Balaji, HoD/BME, Dr.A.Vengedesan, ASP/BME and Mrs.Thanga priya, Research Coordinator/BME and the Faculty members of BME organized the programme successfully.
