REPORT ON WORLD BICYCLE DAY 2021 - Indirani College of Nursing

In commemoration of World Bicycle day 2021, SNA UNIT -ICON  organized a photography contest on the theme “Uniqueness, versatility, longevity of the bicycle and simple, sustainable, affordable, reliable, means of transportation- Source of access to good health on 03.06.2021. The Photographs are invited with the description about the Cycling Moment within 500 words.

The objective of the program is to develop a culture of cycling for basic transportation, commutation, and strengthening physical and mental health.. Cycling is a healthy, low-impact exercise that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The scraped knees and scratched elbow after falling from our cycles are part of what makes childhood memories of playing so nostalgic.

Historically, the first bicycle day was celebrated on June 3, 2018. Professor Leszek Sibilski, Polish social scientist working in the United States, led a grassroots campaign with his sociology class to promote a UN Resolution for World Bicycle Day.

The students have actively participated in the competition. The photographs are evaluated based on the theme and the winners are awarded with e certificates. The Photographs submitted by students really lit up their memories. This inculcated strong encouragement to students, faculties and  stakeholders to emphasize the use of the bicycle as a means of strengthening education, including physical education, preventing disease, promoting tolerance, mutual understanding and facilitating social inclusion.
