Anti-narcotic cell of Indirani College of Nursing

Anti-narcotic cell of Indirani College of Nursing and Care Max Foundation under project MANAM (Mental Health Awareness and Nurturing Adolescent Minds) in association with State Tobacco Control Cell -National Oral Health Program -Indian women’s network jointly organized substance abuse awareness and sensitization program. The event aimed to educate and sensitize students about the dangers of drug abuse, its impact on individuals and society, and the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. The event witnessed an encouraging response, with more than 300 students actively participating in the program.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. B. Vidhya , Chief Operating Officer and she delivered a presidential address and emphasized on the importance of the theme. Prof. Dr. Rajeswari. R, Vice Principal delivered the welcome address and Prof. Dr. Malliga. M, Principal entailed on the importance of prevention of drug abuse. Dr.Sooriyaprasanna S (Founder president Care max Foundation), Dr.kavipriya Outtamane (Nodal officer @National Oral Health Program), Dr.Suriyakumar (State Consultant @National Tobacco Control Cell) deliberated on several topics such as “Emerging trends and challenges of substance abuse among youths, Substance Abuse : An overview, Achievement of tobacco free educational institutions &legal proceedings and penal punishments related to substance abuse to the students.

Students have gained knowledge about the bad effects of substance abuse and at the program end the student has taken pledge on no tobacco and narcotic use .Overall program was organized and conducted successfully by Mr.Thirivikiraman .Z, Associate Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing and Member Secretary of Anti-Narcotic Cell.
