LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY -2025
The radiant and auspicious Lamp Lighting Ceremony for nursing students at Indirani College of Nursing was held on 27th February 2024, marking a momentous occasion for the B.Sc Nursing, DGNM, and ANM courses. The program commenced with an enchanting procession of eager and bright-eyed nursing students, symbolizing the first steps of their noble journey into the world of healthcare. This was followed by a solemn invocation and the lighting of the kuthuvillaku, a sacred lamp, by the distinguished dignitaries, casting a warm glow on the event and representing the enlightenment of knowledge and compassion in the nursing profession. Mrs. Winny Anna Ninan, Lecturer welcomed the esteemed gathering with heartfelt and warm words, setting a tone of reverence and inspiration. As the ceremony continued, each student received the light of their lamp, personally handed to them by the revered Heads of Departments, Professors, and Associate Professors, symbolizing the passing on of knowledge, wisdom, and responsibility. With the lighting of these lamps, the students took the sacred Nightingale Pledge, a promise of lifelong dedication to the healing profession, led by the Principal, Prof. Dr. Malliga Kannan.
The chief guest for the programme, WHO Fellow, National Awardee, Dr. E. Pramila Thamizhvanan, Principal of the College of Nursing, IGMC&RI, Puducherry, Who is the holder of Florence Nightingale Award shared her invaluable experiences and insights, emphasizing the timeless importance of education, discipline, and the unceasing pursuit of personal and professional growth. Her words inspired and motivated the young nurses to be both compassionate and resilient as they navigated their careers. The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. B. Vidya Rangaraju, Chief Operating Officer of Sri Venkateswara Group of Institutions, who presided over the event with great dignity and delivered presidential address whose words resonated with encouragement, reminding the students of the immense responsibility they were about to shoulder as the next generation of caregivers, healers, and leaders in the field of nursing. Dr. S. Ratnaswamy, Director of SVMCH & RC, illuminated the ceremony with a stirring address on the rich history and legacy of the nursing profession, highlighting its profound impact on society and the lives of countless individuals. The presence of General Manager Mr. A. Soundararajan and Academic Advisor Mr. Venkataraman from SVMCH & RC further added to the grandeur of the occasion, as they offered their felicitations, reinforcing the spirit of excellence and dedication.
The event culminated in a heartfelt and sincere vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. R. Rajeswari, Vice Principal, whose gratitude and appreciation reflected the deep sense of respect and honor that enveloped the gathering. With her closing words, the ceremony gracefully concluded, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all present, inspiring the students to embark on their journey with the light of knowledge and compassion guiding them every step of the way.
