College Futsal Team Clinches Championship at 9th Stellar Trophy Inter-Collegiate Tournament
The college futsal team emerged as champions at the 9th Stellar Trophy Inter-Collegiate Futsal Tournament, organized by Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology on March 6–7, 2026. Demonstrating exceptional teamwork, skill, and determination throughout the tournament, the team remained unbeaten and lifted the championship trophy. The campaign began with a commanding 3–0 victory over Achariya Arts and Science College, setting a strong tone for the tournament. Carrying the momentum forward, the team dominated the second round with an impressive 5–0 win against Motilal Nehru Polytechnic College. In the quarterfinals, the team faced the host institution, Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology, in a thrilling contest. After an intense battle, the players secured a 6–5 victory, showcasing remarkable composure and precise finishing under pressure. The semifinals saw another outstanding performance, as the team delivered a one-sided display to defeat Tagore Arts and Science College 7–0, advancing confidently to the final. The final match against Milam Engineering College proved to be a closely contested encounter. After briefly trailing, the team staged a determined comeback and secured a 2–1 victory, sealing the championship amid enthusiastic cheers. The winning squad comprised Intern – B. Mahathuvan; Final Year – B. Reyaz Ahamed, A. Adhiyaman, N. Sabarish, and D. Devasarathy; Third Year – K. Shamkumar; and Second Year – J. Joshua. Prof. Dr. Jeyanthi S., Principal, congratulated the players for their outstanding achievement and appreciated their dedication and sportsmanship. She also commended Physical Director Mr. R. Venkatesh for his guidance and support in preparing the team for the tournament. This remarkable victory marks a proud milestone for the college and highlights the sporting talent nurtured on campus.
