On 6th December 2025, Students from Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Physiotherapy actively participated in the “Awareness Rally” organized as part of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebrations. A total of 44 final-year BPT students took part in this significant event. The rally commenced from the entrance of the JIPMER Administrative Block and concluded at the JIPMER Auditorium, Puducherry.

 

The event was thoughtfully organized by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), JIPMER, with the goal of raising awareness about disability rights, inclusive practices, and the role of rehabilitation in improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities. As a part of the program, a special lecture was delivered by Shri. F. Christopher, Executive Manager, Global Trust of Differently Abled, on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act. His session was highly informative and emphasized the legal rights and empowerment of individuals with disabilities.

Following the lecture, an Assistive device exhibition was conducted by Ottobock Healthcare – Endolite India, showcasing modern mobility aids and rehabilitation technologies. Additionally, students were deeply moved and inspired by the Cultural Performances presented by children from Satya Special School and Srishti Special School, which added a heartfelt dimension to the event.

 

The students of Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Physiotherapy gained valuable exposure, enhanced knowledge, and deep awareness on disability inclusion, rights, and rehabilitation approaches for person with disability. Ms. A. Kirthiga, Assistant Professor, Efficiently coordinated and guided the students of Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Physiotherapy throughout the rally, ensuring their active and disciplined participation in the event.
