FLAIR 2024: The 8th International Physiotherapy Conference
The 8th International Physiotherapy Conference, Flair 2024, was held on the 7th and 8th of November, bringing together over 700 participants, including researchers, experts, and students from the field of physiotherapy. Attendees from across the globe, including regions such as Malaysia, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, actively participated in the conference, engaging in insightful discussions and sharing the latest advancements in physiotherapy. The event started with a formal inauguration, graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Supriya K. Vinod, Principal of MTPG & RIHS, Puducherry, as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Shri B. Ramachandhiran, Chairman, and led by Shmt. Radha Ramachandhiran, Founder Trustee of Sri Venkateshwaraa Group of Institutions. Guest of Honor by Dr. B. Vidhya, Chief Operating Officer, SVGI, and felicitated by Dr. R. Venguttaramane, Academic Advisor, SVGI. The dignitaries marked the beginning of the event with the traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilakku. The gathering was welcomed by Organizing Chairman Prof. Dr. K. Anand Babu, Principal of SVCOPT, and Organizing Secretary, Prof. Paulraj Manickavelu, who gave a brief overview of previous Flair conferences. The dignitaries addressed the gathering. Followed by Prof. Dr. S. Jeyanthi concluded the ceremony with a heartfelt vote of thanks. The first scientific session of Flair 2024 kicked off with an online presentation by Dr. Elanchezhian Chinnavan from AIMST University, Malaysia, who discussed the topic, “Sensor-Based Innovation for Gait Training in Neurological Rehabilitation.” The second session transitioned to offline mode, featuring Dr. Arunachalam Ramachandran, Principal of the College of Physiotherapy, Madhav University, Pindwara, Sirohi, Rajasthan, India, who presented on “PARAM: Pain Apprehension Reactivation of Movement – A Novel Virtual Reality-Based Intervention for Chronic Pain.” The third session was led by Dr. Premkumar B.N, Principal of Kempegowda Institute of Physiotherapy, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, who shared insights on “An Overview and Current Insights in Application of Motor Imagery in Neurological Disorders.” The Parallel Poster presentation, Physio Spark innovation competition, and Sports events, chess, carom, and men's badminton were conducted, marking the conclusion of the morning session on the first day. After lunch, the Scientific Paper presentation session for UG, PG, and faculty members took place. The first day concluded with a Grand Cultural Event, which included a flash mob, welcome dance, duet singing, group dance, variety show, Mr. Flair and Miss. Fair competitions, with judges from various fields, overseeing the events.
The second day of FLAIR 2024 commenced with an insightful online session by Dr. Esha Arora from AIMST University, Malaysia, who presented on the topic, “Role of Exercise in Peripheral Arterial Disease with Type II Diabetes Mellitus.” This was followed by an offline session by Dr. Khushboo Thakkar, Founder and Director of Sakhi Women's Health, Surat, Gujarat, India, on the topic, “Tele-rehabilitation for Antenatal and Postnatal Population: Merits and Demerits.” The third session featured Dr. Vikrant Bhardwaj from the Department of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation at PHYSIOREVIVE, Jeewan Mala Hospital, New Delhi, India, who discussed “Transforming Rehabilitation: The Role of AI in Advancing Physiotherapy Practices.” The morning sessions concluded with a presentation by Dr. Senthil Kumar Elumalai, Professor and HOD, Department of Physiotherapy at SDUAHER, Kolar, Karnataka, India, on “Physiotherapy Technology Performance Matrix: A Revolution in Healthcare.” After lunch, a Quiz competition was conducted. Parallel Sports events, including volleyball, throw ball, futsal, and women’s badminton were held. Then the valedictory Ceremony followed, where the prizes and certificates were distributed to all participants and winners. In a remarkable showcase of talent and achievement, Sri Ramachandra College of Physiotherapy emerged as the overall winner of both the Scientific Session and Cultural Events at Flair 2024, while Excel College of Physiotherapy claimed victory in the Sports Events. The prestigious Overall Trophy for Flair 2024, however, was also awarded to Sri Ramachandra College of Physiotherapy, cementing their dominance and securing top honors across multiple categories at the event. Flair 2024 was made possible with the generous support of several esteemed sponsors, including Technomed, a leading manufacturer of physiotherapy equipment, and CBS Publishers and Distributors alongside Scientific Medical System, a prominent supplier of physiotherapy medical equipment. The event was further supported by The Indian Journal of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, a prestigious international journal focused on physiotherapy research, and Toni & Guy, a well-known brand in beauty and grooming. The event served as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration in the field.
