The National Vaccination day was observed and sensitized to the public on awareness on COVID 19 vaccination. The theme for this year’s National Vaccination Day is both Polio eradication as well as the current COVID-19 threat. Vaccination schedules to eradicate the SARS-CoV-2 virus are being run across the nation. The day was first observed in the year 1995, the year on which India started Pulse Polio Programme. This year, the National Vaccination Day is important as the country has started its biggest Covid-19 immunization programme early this year and has already crossed the 30 million mark. Under the motivation of our respected Principal madam Dr. Prof. Malliga Kannan, the faculties and students had undergone vaccination of COVID 19 on the same day and emphasized the importance of vaccination and its benefits to the people. It was conducted by NSS unit and the series organized by Dr.S.RathiDevi, NSS Programme Officer.

According to the World Health Organization, immunization is a ‘health and development success story. It is the process through which an individual’s immune system becomes fortified against foreign harm causing agent. The vaccines train a person’s immune system to create antibodies. The vaccines are killed or weakened form of germs like viruses or bacteria that cannot cause disease but make antibodies that will safeguard the body when an active and strong form of the disease attacks the body.

And also, to sensitize the importance of vaccination to the students, the quiz was conducted among the NSS volunteers and they actively participated and gained enormous knowledge. The quiz were on the various vaccines, its indication, site, dosage, route, side effects, and contraindications

Adding all to this, the NSS Volunteers assisted for the vaccination campaign in the great manner. They helped for the mass vaccination in all the processes. They sincerely helped for the vaccination campaign through assisting in registration, and all arrangements. And senior PG Students acts as a health care worker and administered vaccines for the people. Thus the vaccination day was observed by the institution in the marvelous manner.
