NSS SPECIAL CAMP

NSS unit of Indirani College of Nursing organized special camp from 18.03.2024 to 24.03.2024 at Keezhsathamangalamvillage on the theme of “Health, Environment and Society”. With the strong motivation Dr. Prof. Malliga M, Principaland Dr. Prof. Rajeswari R, Vice Principal cum IQAC Coordinator tireless effortsof NSS Programme Officer Dr. Prof. S. Rathidevi, the proposal has been planned and submitted for perusals and considerations. The camp was conducted as per plan in the systematic manner. The overall services of the volunteers throughout the camp were elicited below. The 7 days camp has been planned as per the schedule given below.

DAY 1 – 18.03.2024

            The NSS camp was inaugurated in the morning of the day. The NSS Programme Officer Prof. Dr. S. Rathidevi introduced about the theme of the camp and schedule of the programme to the NSS volunteers and the student volunteers were divided into committees and they arranged accordingly for the programme.

ACTIVITY 1: Education based on theme “Use water and be naturally healthy”, the volunteers were actively participated and prepared posters to educate regarding the use of water. Poster presentation conducted based on the theme and volunteers are actively participated and shown their interest.Prof.Dr.Malliga M, Principal, Prof.Dr.Rathidevi S, NSS programme officer and Mrs.Amudha G, Associate professor to visit their poster and congratulate to all the participants.

ACTIVITY 2: Exhibition on healthy foods “Millets and its importance” were displayed by the volunteers and created awareness. Importance of millets was clearly explained. They explained about Types of Millets, Uses and importance of millets and how to cook the millets. Prof.Dr.Malliga M, Principal, Prof.Dr.Rathidevi S, NSS programme officer and Mrs.Amudha G, Associate professor to visit their poster and congratulate to all the participants.

DAY 2 – 19.03.2024-MORNING

ACTIVITY 1- CAMPAIGN ON “SAY NO TO PLASTIC” – AWARENESS AND CLEAN UP DRIVE.

The cleaning activities in and around villages were done. The obligation was taken from the Keezhsathamangalamsubcentre. They provided the necessary articles to do the work properly. This has given a greater meaning in the activity.  In this programme all the plastics were collected in a 5  bags. Educate the public to plastic free environment and global warming. Mrs.Kalpana R, Associate professor to coordinate the event in great manner.

ACTIVITY 2 - KITCHEN GARDENING, TERRACE GARDENING ACTIVITY, MEDICINAL PLANTS PLANTATION.

The volunteers were actively involved in kitchen gardening activities, terrace gardening activities and medicinal plants plantation and also educated about its importance to the keezhsathamangalam village people. Plant 50 green trees in keezhsathamangalm village and NSS Volunteers explained the benefits of trees to the public. Terrace gardening 25 types of herbal plants planted at ICON.

DAY 2 – AFTERNOON

The NSS camp was inaugurated in the Afternoon at 2 pm.   The chief guest of the programme was Mr.D.Sathish Kumar, State NSS Officer, State NSS cell, Puducherry. The programme was started with the prayer and lighting kuthuvillaku as that adds wisdom to the life. The camp plan was oriented to the volunteers by the NSS programme officer Dr. S.Rathidevi. The programme was felicitated with the wishes of honorable Principal Dr. Prof .Malliga M. The chief guest addressed the volunteers about the importance of NSS special camp and the inauguration ended with vote of thanks and national anthem.

DAY 3 – 20.03.2024-MORNING

ACTIVITY 1 – BLOOD DONATION BY NSS VOLUNTEERS

On Third day of the camp, as part of the blood donation camp,  four of our volunteers donated blood in the IGMC campus.NSS Volunteers are interested to donate blood. Prof.Dr.Malliga M, Principal congratulate to all the volunteers.

ACTIVITY 2 – ROLE PLAYS ON BLOOD DONATION

On the same day, the volunteers were actively participated in role play on Blood donation at Keezhsathamangalam village to create awareness among public. They created awareness related need of blood, importance of blood donation and eligible criteria of   blood donation. Public they gained more knowledge about blood donation and Volunteers clarified their doubts. Mrs.Manju E, Assistant Professor Department of community health nursing organizes the overall programme.

DAY 3- AFTERNOON

AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON PREVENTION OF DRUG ABUSE AMONG PEOPLES IN THE COMMUNITY.

            On the same day, in the afternoon session, the awareness regarding prevention of Drug abuse among keezhsathamangalam village people given by Mr. Duraikannan from BharathMatha Deaddiction Centre, Ariyankuppam, Puducherry.  The village people gained knowledge regarding drug abuse and its prevention.

DAY 4 – 21.03.2024 -MORNING

RALLY ON VOTER AWARENESS

NSS volunteers are actively participated in the rally at Keezhsathamangam village. They used AV-aids such as pluck cardsand created an  awareness related to why we need voters day, importance of voting.Ms.Dhanalakshmi J, Assistant Professor Department of community health nursing organize the overall programme.

DAY 4 – AFTERNOON

SKILL TRAINING PROGRAMME ON MUSHROOM FARMING AMONG VILLAGE WOMEN.

On the same day afternoon, skill training programme on mushroom farming was conducted at keezhsathamangalam village and explained the village people regarding the uses of mushroom cultivation and its importance. Mushroom cultivation benefits, needed materials, transportation of mushroom to the shops, how to store the mushroom etc.Public more knowledge about mushroom cultivation process.

DAY 5-22.03.2024

MORNING

Menstrual Hygiene – Education about types of menstrual pads and its implications on health.

On day 6, morning Awareness regarding the menstrual hygiene given by Dr. Deepthi Maria, Ayurvedha MO.Ariyur,PHC to the volunteers and taught regarding the types of menstrual pads and its implications on health.

DAY 5-AFTERNOON

SPECIAL LECTURE ON GANDHIAN THOUGHTS

Mr.Illango, retired military officer to share their thoughts about Gandhi and inspired the students in enthusiastic manner. Students asked so many doubts and clarified in the time of sessions. Teach the students about Millitary nursing officer recruitments and share the knowledge to all the participants.

DAY 6-23.03.2024-AFTERNOON

Basic yoga asanas for healthy life for elderly

Ms.Indhumathi G, Lecturer in Department of community health nursing trained the students regarding   yoga asanas and NSS volunteers were actively participated and gained more knowledge about yoga. In this time she taugh benefits of yoga and asanas, correct time to do yoga, how to reduce health related problem, how to maintain psychological needs.

DAY 7-24.03.2024-MORNING

Dental Screening

Dental camp screening  and referral programme organized collaboration with SVDC. Nearly 75 villiage people along with government primary school childrens are benefitted to the dental camp. NSS volunteers are actively involved in the event. Mr.Thirivikkiraman Z, Associate professor, Department of community health nursing organize the overall programme in very grand manner.

DAY 7-25.03.2024-AFTERNOON

TEMPLE SAFETY AND SECURITY CLEANING

NSS volunteers clean the murugan temple at keezhsathamangalam village and distribute water, fruit juice, peanut cake for the public in panguniuthiram festival. People appreciate the initiation of the event.
