SVCOPT Hosts 25th Symposium in Celebration of World Physiotherapy Day 2025
On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day, September 8, 2025, SVCOPT organized a symposium on the theme “Physiotherapy Assessment and Intervention for Healthy Ageing”. The distinguished resource person for the day was Dr. Ravi Ranganathan, Director and Founder, Pain and Stroke Centre, Chennai.
The inaugural session commenced with the soulful rendition of Thamizh Thai Vazhthu, invoking an auspicious beginning. The Welcome Address was delivered by our respected Principal, Prof. Jeyathi S., MPT (Ortho), PhD, who warmly greeted the gathering and highlighted the importance of physiotherapy in promoting healthy aging.
This was followed by a Felicitation Address by our COO, Dr. Vidhya, who emphasized the growing relevance of physiotherapy interventions in today’s healthcare system. Dr. Elamathi, PT, Assistant Professor, gracefully introduced the resource speaker, setting the stage for an enlightening session. Dr. Ravi Ranganathan then delivered his expert lecture, sharing valuable insights on physiotherapy approaches for assessment and management in healthy ageing. His thought-provoking presentation inspired both faculty and students to broaden their clinical perspectives.
To honor their valuable contributions, the Principal presented mementos to the Chief Guest and the Felicitator. Faculty members were recognized with tokens of appreciation for their excellent academic results, while students received certificates for their enthusiastic participation in the pre-event competitions held on September 6, 2025. Competitions included reel making, debate, and poster presentations, and winners were applauded on stage.
A highlight of the event was the release of the annual edition of our college magazine "PHYSIO VIVID 2025" Vol 8, Issue 1. The first copy was handed over to the Chief Guest, marking a proud moment for the institution.
The symposium concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. J. Philomina, PT, Assistant Professor and Organising Secretary of World Physiotherapy Day 2025, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, participants, and organizing team.
The day proved to be a perfect blend of academic enrichment, recognition of talents, and celebration of the spirit of physiotherapy.
