Universal Health Coverage Day 2025 - Seminar on Strengthening Primary Health Care

The Nursing Education Unit of Indirani College of Nursing, Ariyur, Puducherry, organized an insightful seminar on the theme “Strengthening Primary Health Care for Achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in observance of Universal Health Coverage Day 2025. This year’s global theme, “Unaffordable Health Costs? We’re Sick of It!”**, was emphasized throughout the programme, highlighting the urgent need for accessible, affordable, and equitable healthcare services for all. The seminar featured Dr. Manimozhi S., Chief Medical Officer (NFSG), State EPI Officer cum State Training Officer, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services, Puducherry, as the esteemed resource person. Drawing on her extensive expertise in public health, she delivered a powerful and enlightening session underscoring the critical role of strengthened primary health care services in achieving Universal Health Coverage in India. She also discussed practical strategies to minimize financial burden on families, enhance access to essential health services, and improve the quality of care at the grassroots level. The programme was conducted on 12.12.2025 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m at the Florence Nightingale Auditorium, ICON. Faculty members, nursing students, and healthcare professionals attended the seminar and actively participated in an engaging discussion focused on building resilient health systems and reducing health inequalities. The event successfully reinforced the institution’s commitment to promoting public health awareness and preparing competent nursing professionals equipped to contribute to national health priorities.
