Introduction: On Commemoration of International day for Elimination of Violence against Women - 2022, Department of Obstetrical and Gynaecology Nursing and Women cell has organized a guest lecture on 28.12.2022 between 02.30 Pm to 03.30 Pm. at Indirani college of Nursing, Ariyur. 

Report on the event: The program was started at 2.30pm. The students of M.Sc (N) II & B.Sc (N) IV year (95 students) were participated in guest lecture focused on the theme “UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls held on 28^th November. The day is observed to raise awareness on promoting advocacy and creating better opportunities for women to prevent and eliminate violence around the world. The Guest speaker Dr.Subhalakshmi, Asst.Professor, school of Law, Pondicherry University was elaborated about the global scenario of Violence against women and the laws which protect the women. She has overviewed the preamble of Indian Constitution like 1. Fundamental rights of women 2. Constitutional provisions for the protection of women 3.Forced child marriage, 4.Crimes against women identified under the Indian penal code 5. Abuse and kidnapping 6. Domestic violence and Sexual harassment.  Students interacted with the guest speaker about the nationwide incidence of violence against women. The programme was very lively and students were sensitized about the legal consideration for violence against women. Mrs.Kavitha.S, Secretary Women cell and Prof. Jamunarani.G, Head of the department of Obstetrical and Gynaecological Nursing organized the programme under the Guidance of Principal. Dr. Prof. Malliga M and Dr.Prof. Rajeswari. R, Vice principal cum IQAC Co-ordinator.
