NSS Orientation Programme 2025
Sri Venkateswaraa College of Paramedical Sciences and College of Physiotherapy Organized a NSS Orientation Programme held on 16th October 2025 served as a meaningful introduction for newly enrolled volunteers to the aims and objectives of the National Service Scheme (NSS). The event reflected the true spirit of the NSS motto, “Not Me But You,” which emphasizes selfless service, empathy, and social responsibility among youth. The programme commenced with an invocation and a welcome address, followed by an inspirational speech by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Ananda Vayaravel, SVCPMS, and Principal, Prof. Dr.S. Jeyanthi, SVCOPT, who highlighted the importance of volunteerism and the vital role of students in nation-building. They encouraged the volunteers to utilize the NSS platform as an opportunity to develop their leadership qualities, teamwork, and sense of responsibility toward the community. The session continued with a detailed orientation conducted by the State NSS officer and College Programme Coordinators, who elaborated on the aims, structure, and functioning of the NSS. They explained that the core objective of NSS is to develop the overall personality of students through community engagement and experiential learning. Volunteers were informed about various regular activities such as blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, health and environmental awareness rallies, and educational support initiatives. The Coordinators also explained the importance of the Special Seven-Day Camps, where volunteers actively engage with rural or urban communities to promote awareness on crucial social themes like “Clean India,” “Health for All,” “Women Empowerment,” and “Environmental Sustainability.” These camps not only provide practical exposure but also strengthen the spirit of teamwork and civic commitment among participants. In addition, the volunteers were briefed about the benefits of NSS participation, including the Certificate of Appreciation awarded after completing 240 hours of community service, which adds value to their academic and professional profiles. The program also emphasized that NSS volunteers gain significant life skills—such as leadership, communication, and social empathy—which contribute to their holistic development. The orientation concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where new volunteers actively engaged with the coordinators, sharing their ideas and clarifying their doubts about upcoming activities. The session ended on an inspiring note, motivating every student to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to community service and uphold the true essence of the NSS motto — “Not Me But You.”
