Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Physiotherapy, Ariyur, Puducherry, organized a Focused Symposium on “Specific Learning Disability” to mark International Day for Persons with Disabilities.
The Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Physiotherapy, Ariyur, Puducherry, organized a Focused Symposium on “Specific Learning Disability” on 2nd December 2025 at the Mary McMillan Hall, commemorating the International Day for Persons with Disabilities. The event brought together over 150 participants, including researchers, experts, and students from physiotherapy institutions across Puducherry. The event was presided over by Patrons Shri B. Ramachandhiran, Chairman, Smt. Radha Ramachandhiran, Founder Chairman, and Co- Patrons Shri. A.R. Rajiv Krishna, Managing Director, Smt. Moushmi Rajiv, Executive Director of Sri Venkateshwaraa Group of Institutions. The symposium began with a formal inauguration graced by Dr. I. Srikanth, Principal, School of Physiotherapy, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), who attended as the Special Guest. Dr. B. Vidhya, Chief Operating Officer, SVGI, felicitated the gathering. The dignitaries jointly inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional Kuthuvilakku. Organizing Chairman Prof. Dr. S. Jeyanthi, Principal, Sri Venkateshwaraa College of Physiotherapy, delivered the welcome address, followed by inspiring inaugural remarks from the guests. As part of the ceremony, prizes were awarded to the winners and runners-up of the poster and paper presentations, as well as the hackathon online pre-event, held on 27th and 28th November 2025. The inaugural session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Mr. T. Bharaneedharan, Clinical Incharge. The scientific sessions of the symposium featured a series of expert presentations: Dr. Bhuvana Vasudevan, Founder, Bridges Learning Vidyalaya HSS, Pondicherry, Mr. Rathish S, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Pediatric Physiotherapy, MTPG & RIS, Pondicherry, Dr. S. Sri Sai Priya, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, SVMCH & RC, Pondicherry, Dr. C. Shashidhar Rao, Professor, NIEPMD, Chennai, Mr. Sam Sundhar Thomas, Assistant Professor, Department of Audiology, Vinayaka Mission Research Foundation, Pondicherry, Mrs. R. Mathiyarasi, Lecturer in Physiotherapy, NIEPMD, Chennai, Mr. J. Jaising, Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist, Active Life Physiotherapy Centre, Pondicherry. Each expert delivered insightful sessions covering diverse facets of Specific Learning Disability, enhancing understanding, early identification, and multidisciplinary therapeutic approaches. The symposium successfully enriched participants’ knowledge and strengthened professional collaboration toward supporting children with Specific Learning Disabilities.
