4S Dengue Awareness Campaign 2023 @Kariyamanikam Village, Puducherry

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) in collaboration with National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Sri Venkateshwaraa Dental College (SVDC) conducted indoor and outdoor event of Dengue Awareness Program on 10.11.2023 (Indoor event)  and 24.11.2023 (Outdoor event). Dr. S. Senthilnathan MDS- Principal, Dr. S. Thirumalai MDS- Nodal officer of UBA, Dr. G.Shobana MDS, Nodal Officer of NSS conducted this awareness program. The authority has given permission  to conduct this program by Mr. Amirthalingam, Village administrative officer (VAO) and Mr. Gunasekaran, Village Assistant of Kariyamanikam village, Puducherry. CRRI Dental students aware the General public of kariyamanikam people on 24.11.2023 and aware outpatient of SVDC  from 10.11.2023 onwards. Dengue pamphlets were designed and distributed to the general public. The program was started from Village administrative office of Kariyamanikam village, Puducherry. Dengue awareness announcement was given by students through public address system in Mobile dental van. Van moved around the area of village and simultaneously distributed pamphlets in shops, petrol bunks, temples, residential area. The program focused on 4S, stands for “Search and Destroy” mosquito breeding places, “Secure Self Protection” from mosquito bite, “Seek Early Consultation” when signs and symptoms of dengue occur, and “Say Yes to Fogging” as a last resort when there is an impending outbreak. Students were aware about symptoms, home remedies to prevent from epidemic (Dengue). Approximately 1000 people were benefited by this program.
