The Student Nurses Association in conjunction with National Service Scheme of our institution organized International Yoga day program with Fair and festival for the duration of 5 days from 21.6.2021 to 25. 6.2021 in the grant manner. This programme was masterminded on the theme of Yoga for well being. The programme was concerted under the guidance of respected principal madam, Dr. Malliga.M and it was greatly endorsed by Dr.R.Rajeswari, SNA Advisor cum Vice Principal of the institution.

Yoga is an ancient practice that involves physical poses, concentration and deep breathing. As part of worldwide celebration, We Indirani College of Nursing has taken initiative step to create healthier society. The main motto is to promote endurance, strength, calmness, flexibility and well being among the students by practicing yoga. Yoga postures, Pranayama and meditation are effective techniques to release stress, increase the memory power and increase the positive thought. The student volunteers from Indirani College of nursing were encouraged to participate any interesting event of their choice such as photos, video, Art, slogan, drawing, dance, poster and oration with great enthusiasm. Every day, Yoga Sub themes were given to the volunteers and instructed to participate. The subthemes for the five day programme were disseminated to the students as given below.

Webinar on Therapeutic yoga

 

On day 25.6.2021, the webinar was conducted with the aim of enriching the knowledge on Therapeutic Yoga. Around 200 delegates participated in the ZOOM session and were benefited.

The webinar initiated with the welcome address by NSS Program officer Dr. S.Rathi devi. The first session was presented by the speaker, Dr. S.Rathidevi, M.Sc Yoga on the concept of Meditation and health and the second session was deliberated Dr. R. Rajeswari, M.Sc Yoga on the topic of Pranayama and Health. The next session was presented to students by the respected Principal madam Dr. Malliga. M., M.Sc Yoga on topic of Mudras and Health and it was followed by Prof. Jamuna Rani on basic yoga asanas and Health. The last session was dealt by Mrs. Amudha on topic of Surya Namaskar. All the sessions were very informative and interactive & the students were involved enthusiastically in the enriched manner. The session ended with votes of thanks and feedback.

The students have actively participated in the competition. More than 350 volunteers participated for the event. The events were evaluated based on the subtheme and the winners were awarded with e- certificates. This programme made the young volunteers to develop positive attitude and good fitness. This programme was organized by Dr. S. RathiDevi, NSS Programme Officer with the cheerful spirits.
