On Commemoration of social media day, the Mental Health Nursing department has organized a Debate on the theme of “Join the movement and make a difference” on 15.07.2023   between 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm. The programme was organized to create interest, awareness and positive change about social media among the students. The program was started with the warm welcome by Ms. Anbuvizhi, B.Sc Nursing III year.  4 students from B.Sc Nursing III year have actively participated . The students took part in the discussion on the benefits and drawbacks of social media. Students in the debate highlighted the benefits of social media, which largely included free information sources, use as educational tools, helps to increase self-esteem, entertains the audience, and helps to generate cash. The drawbacks of social media include its ability to lead to addiction, increase online bullying, disseminate false information, disrupt sleep, and waste a lot of time.  The programme was conducted successfully under the Guidance of the Principal Dr. Prof. Malliga M and   Dr. Prof. Rajeswari. R, Vice principal. The program ended with the feedback session. Mrs, Priyadersini M, Lecturer and Prof. Ganesan, HOD, Department of Mental Health Nursing Coordinated the overall program. Students that took part received an electronic certificate in appreciation of their work. The participant’s feedback was obtained at the end of the program, which stated that the program was very useful and the students’ gained awareness about social media and its uses. Their feedback was analyzed and interpreted as excellent, good, and fair. Out of 99 participants, 92 of them expressed as excellent and 7 had revealed as good.
