BASIC LIFE SUPPORT – WORKSHOP
The Indian Institute of Emergency Medical Services conducted an American Heart Association-aggregated Basic Life Support Workshop for the interns and PGs on the 9th and 10th of May 2023. The program was organized by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
The Indian Institute of Emergency Medical Services conducted an American Heart Association-aggregated Basic Life Support Workshop for the interns and PGs on the 9th and 10th of May 2023. The program was organized by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The program was coordinated by Dr. S. Duraimurugan, Senior lecturer, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The instructors for this workshop were Dr. Surendar, Dept. Of Emergency Medicine, IGMC & RI; Dr. Archana, Associate Professor, Department Of Emergency Medicine, JIPMER; Mr. Akhil Viswanth, IIEMS, Instructor; Mrs. Liju Mole, IIEMS, Instructor; and Mr. Midhun, IIEMS, Course Coordinator. A MCQ test and practical hands-on exercises were conducted to assess the student’s level of understanding pertaining to CPR in adults, children, and infants. Scenario-based questions were discussed, which made the program much more interesting. Techniques for abdominal thrusts and ways to prevent choking in an unresponsive patient were also explained by the instructors in an easy manner.
