INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY CELEBRATION 2021 - Indirani College of Nursing, Puducherry

Indirani College of Nursing observed and celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021 in the grand manner. The theme for this year's International Women's Day is # Choose To Challenge. It indicates that a "challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change" International Women’s Day is observed on March 8 to celebrate women, their rights and their achievements. IWD began in the 1900s, and it is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

The series of programme has been planned and implemented in an effective manner. The list of the programme is enlisted below.

 The Department of Community Health Nursing organized women’s day programme on the theme of “Choose to Challenge” which focused mainly on women’s health 0n 08.03.2021. This programme was conducted in collaboration with the AYUSH unit, Primary Health Center, Ariyur with the guidance of Dr. Prof. Malliga Kannan, Principal, Indirani College of Nursing. The main objective of the programme is to emphasize on physical, mental, social and emotional wellbeing of women. The programme stared with the auspicious prayer and welcome address by Mr. Thirivikraman.Z, Associate Professor of Indirani College of Nursing. The women’s day message was addressed by Dr. Jeevandandham, Medical Officer, AYUSH Unit, Primary Health Centre, Ariyur , who insisted on lifestyle diet of the female from birth to the last stages in detail. Dr. Prema, Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre, Ariyur, wished the programme with her speech and elaborated on the COVID vaccination to the people. Dr.S.RathiDevi, HOD of Community Health Nursing, Organizing Secretary of the programme has elaborated on the women day theme and elicited the ways to face the challenges of the world.

The group of students from Indirani College of Nursing had given programme such as self defense programme to incorporate safety and security to the girls. Yoga and meditation was demonstrated for the physical wellbeing, Social Women Achievers list was shown the girls to inculcate confidence in them. The students had exhibited posters on prevention of Non Communicable Diseases. The exhibition was opened by the respected Principal Dr. Prof. Malliga Kannan, and Vice Principal Dr.R.Rajeswari. The girl students of the school benefited by the prgramme to the greater extend.

Women cell of Indirani College of Nursing celebrated women’s day on 08.03.2021 afternoon which focused on the wellness of the faculties. In this programme, the theme of the women’s day was elicited by the respected principal madam and she motivated each and everyone to face the daily challenges and achieve great in future professionally and personally. The yoga was demonstrated to the faculties. Acupressure points and pressure for wellness was demonstrated by Ms. Kokilavani, Asst Professor, Ms.Vaishnavi, Lecturer, who were specialist in the field. This created good spirit among the women faculties

The department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing has planned and organized program for International women’s Day 2021 on the theme of “CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE” on 09.03.2021 at our institution. The aim of the program is to express the honor towards women The program was organized by group of First year M.Sc., Nursing students. The programme was started with the prayer song, which made all the souls blossomed. Dr. Prof. Malliga Kannan ,Principal presided over the function and open the theme of the International women’s day , Dr. Prof. R. Rajeswari  Vice Principal felicitated the program by her eloquent speech, Prof.G.Jamunarani, HOD Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing has shared few words about women’s day.

Followed this, the students performed various programmes like dance, speech, video presentation relevant to women’s day theme to honor the women’s. Adding credit to this International women’s day Exhibition opened with charts and art works depicted the women’s day theme to create awareness about the challenges faced by the female gender.
