THEME –“PREVENTING BIRTH DEFECTS AND SAVING LIVES”
On Commemoration of WORLD FOLIC ACID AWARENESS WEEK-2023, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing of the institution has organized screening and awareness Programme on the theme “PREVENTING BIRTH DEFECTS AND SAVING LIVES” on 04.01.2023 between 8 am to 12.30 pm at SVMCH & RC,(OG, OPD),Ariyur, Puducherry.The program was started at 10 am. Following that, Ms.G.Gunasakthi, Lecturer, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing,has delivered welcome address to the Patients. This programme highlights on creating awareness of the importance of folic acid, causes, signs and symptoms, Management and complications of folic acid deficiency. Totally 10 students from B.Sc Nursing IVth year have actively participated.Students Presented a poster presentation and Health Teaching regardingimportance of folic acid, causes, signs and symptoms, Management of folic acid deficiency and Displayed Folic acid rich diets and also prepared Moulages for Complications of folic acid deficiency. Beneficiaries of the program were around 15 Patients. Followed by that, Ms.G.Gunasakthi, Lecturer, delivered the Vote of Thanks.
Overall program was conducted under the Guidance ofPrincipal Prof. Dr Malliga M and Prof. Dr. Rajeswari. R, Vice principal cum IQAC Co-ordinator.The participants feedback was obtained at the end of the program which stated that the program was very useful and that the patients gained knowledge. The program successfully ended at 12.30 pm. G.Gunasakthi, Lecturer, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing, Coordinated the overall program along with the B.Sc(N), IVth year students.
The participant’s feedback was obtained at the end of the program which stated that the program was very useful and that the students gained awareness about the importance of Folic acid. Their feedback was analyzed and interpreted as excellent, good, and fair organization of the programme. Out of 15 Beneficiaries, 13of them expressed as excellent organization and remaining 2 had revealed as good organization of the programme.
